Emperor Joseph II: My dear young man, don't take it too hard. Your work is ingenious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?

(from the movie "Amadeus (1984)")

This slide section introduces some basic UML® concepts essential to understanding SysML®, and some essential notations and terminology, with some detailed REFERENCE CARDs. It does not expand here on use of Behaviors such as Activities and StateMachines, they are handled in more detail in other tutorial trails. It also does not cover Component, Node, Deployment, or other related metaclasses that are not in the UML4SysML subset of elements used by SysMLv1.

This trail section is currently mostly just annotated diagrams only - with no additional text explanations except for linked Notes and Snippet spec extracts

These topics are handled in far more detail in this Webel course:

We are offering a 30% discount off all SysML/MBSE course bookings secured by 31st March 2025! Contact us now to apply!

There is also an entire separate tutorial trail with mini video simulations of UML/SysMLv1 Activities and StateMachines:

If you are already a "UML ninja" by all means skip to the SysML starting point:
