Each disc circle becomes brighter as the ramp ticks progress from 0..1, however this effect is further modulated by a sense of expansion from the innermost circle (with index 1) to the outermost (with index 8), so the outer circles brighten last. (In the audio patches it will be seen that the amplitudes of the higher frequency oscillators corresponding to the outer circles also increase to full power last.)
